Should I Buy Coral Online?

Now days there are several vendors offering live coral for sale online. Some have large colonies for sale where others have only little frags of the coral in question. As a hobbiest I was skeptical in the beginning but online vendors had corals with much better coloration and size, which no LFS had! After a little while we took the leap and found that we could buy coral online that truly was spectacular. That none of our LFS seemed to want to try and import, and if they did get one piece it immediately went into there show tank and was not available for sale, or if it was it was such an astronomical price it was a joke. With the increase of internet activity and search's we are all able to buy coral online and bring home corals that otherwise we would only see in a book or on a reef. Today we can bring Australia, or Fiji into our homes and into our reef tanks. Australia opening its oceans to us has enabled us to bring in some of the most amazing colorations in many different corals. Australia Acanthastrea are like no other in the world, they are the most colorful, vibrant in the world and some have every color in the rainbow. So as to the question of should you buy coral online? Yes. If you find a piece that looks beautiful in your eyes you can now have that beauty in your aquarium. Some times it may seem like a risk but after a short time you will realize that coral for sale on the internet is not only safe, many product are guaranteed and look even better in your own aquarium. Another benefit is that more often the cost of these spectacular corals are a lot less online than if you were to find it in your LFS.
